Ken Robinson in this video said that creativity now is as important in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status. Today in public education we tend to tell the children to sit and be quiet. That’s difficult for many children. Kids are born to be creative people. However, in education we tend to squash that. It’s because education systems are designed for the industrial world and university knowledge systems. Certain subjects like math, science, reading, are ranked higher than music, art, and dance because of their usefulness to the industrial world. What Ken Robinson said is that we need to foster not only the academic side of children, but the creative side also. He specifically said at the end of his talk, “We need to educate the whole being, so that they can face this future. By the way -- we may not see this future, but they will. And our job, is to help them make something of it.”/유위링 미디어아카데미 명예기자
